Maritime diversity in the vicinity of three ports
Extremely positive developments are expected in the maritime economy, which already constitutes one of the outstanding growth markets. As an international hub and transhipment centre for all kinds of goods and also the location of many major companies in the production, trade and service sectors, the JadeBay Region will naturally benefit from these developments.
Major European Energy Hub
Wind power, crude oil, coal and nuclear power – the whole dynamics of the energy market are reflected here in the JadeBay Region. This is the location of Germany's principal port for crude oil imports. It's also here that companies produce for off-shore wind parks. This location is not at the end of all roads, pipelines and routes, but at the beginning. Take, for example, the NWO Nord-West Ölleitung GmbH. More than 900 million tons of crude oil and products have been transhipped here on the unloading pier in Wilhelmshaven since 1958.
Chemical Industry Cluster on the North Sea
Globally-operating enterprises from the chemical industry decided in favour of locating in the JadeBay Region decades ago. Today, products as varied as synthetics, zinc alloys and pigments, intended for the global market, all have their origins here and their manufacturers profit from the favourable location of the JadeBay Region. The chemical company INEOS Vinyls Deutschland GmbH, for example, manufactures VCM, PVC and chloride at two production facilities directly on the coast at Wilhelmshaven. All necessary raw materials are transported to the works by sea.
An aviation high-flyer
The JadeBay Region's tradition as a production location for the aviation industry goes back a long way. It has contributed to the construction of Airbus aircraft for decades. In 2008, as a result of restructuring measures within the Airbus group, the Airbus factories in Nordenham and Varel merged with Premium Aerotec GmbH. This provides the works' locations and their component suppliers with tremendous opportunities to develop their core expertise in the areas of machining, jig and flume construction, the production of large steel sheets and shell construction. Research and development will also be stepped and look, for example, into the areas of processing new materials such as titanium or carbon fibre reinforced composites, which are to be increasingly employed as a substitute for aluminium in future.
Tourism, Culture and Leisure
Thanks to its exposed position directly on the Jade Bay, our climatically favourable region has absolutely everything you could wish for for a pleasant and enjoyable seaside stay and a thoroughly successful holiday on Germany's North Sea coast.
"Boom" factor coast – at the hub of international traffic
The coastal regions and their port locations function as a central interface in the international exchange of goods. They are therefore ideal locations for operating logistic services and they form an important basis for economic success.
