Interview with Mr. Meienburg, entrepreneur 2009 and Managing Director of Meienburg GmbH & Co. KG, Schortens

Mr. Meienburg, to begin with could you give us a brief idea in which fields your company operates, how your company came about and what the important success factors are for your company?

I set up my company in 1986/87 in my bedroom, which I had rearranged, with a desk and fax for just around DM 800 (€ 400) seed capital. We are specialists for nuts, dried fruits and chocolate specialities and are unmistakably unique in this region. Our success is based on high-calibre premium products – that’s how we have made a name for ourselves in food retailing and specialist stores.

What significance does the location in the JadeBay region have for you and why?

I grew up here in Wilhelmshaven and our structures have developed here in this region. We now supply customers with our products from the North Sea down to Lake Constance. We think it is important to support the region here, where we will continue to produce our goods and maintain and create jobs.

Your company is headquartered in Schortens. Do you have other locations? What requests or suggestions would you give location management for the JadeBay region for the road? Tell us a little bit about your visions for the future?

We only have one headquarters and that is in Schortens/Friesland. With the construction of JadeWeserPort and the foundation of JadeBay GmbH I would hope for many companies with courage and smart ideas that promote pooling and strengthening resources.

Our vision for the future is a continued constant growth of the Meienburg brand and the creation of new jobs.

And what kind of future do you envisage for the JadeBay region, its inhabitants and potential investors?

Our potential investors will experience powerful synergy effects and skilled top-quality, jobs will be the result. That will be very beneficial for the JadeBay region and, of course, its inhabitants.
